Last week I received products to review for my first review and giveaway. I will give a bottle of organic baby shampoo and diaper cream to the first person who buys a cloth diaper from me.
So I opened the box and was surprised to see, not just one item to review, but several. There were lovely books to read to my little tyke and his little tyke friends, organic baby creams and organic baby wash/shampoo. Two sets of each and I plan on giving one lucky person a baby wash/shampoo and cream set.
In the box were some Peter Rabbit books. I loved these books as a kid, so I’m familiar with their stories and was excited to have some books in the house that weren’t hand me downs, not that hand me downs are bad at all, but these were books I will keep high up on a shelf and keep nice and read to J myster before bed or read to his friends as a designated reading time. They will not be played with until they are old enough to respect books. These are nice books.
The first book I read to J myster was Peter Rabbits Easter Egg hunt. The pop up sections of the book are particularly fun and J went “oooooh!”
The pop up sections are filled with hidden eggs because Peter Rabbit is on a scavenger hunt and has to find all the eggs. So your child gets to participate in the fun of Easter egg finding all the time! Not just on Easter! I loved reading this to J and its one of the few books he will sit still through.
So if you purchase this particular Peter Rabbit book, let them read the book with you under supervision to make sure little flaps don’t get torn out.
The other books they gave me included a box set. These 5 stories are perfect for 1 to 2 year old’s. It has hard card board pages with beautiful artistic drawings on each page. Perfect for a baby or toddler to read on their own unsupervised.
So on to the organics part.
The first day I received these items I tested the diaper cream by putting a little on my finger, rubbing it between my fingers and running my fingers under water to test its ability to seal in moisture to the skin. It passed with flying colors! So I put some on J myster after a diaper change and it has an ever so slight tangerine scent..I had to really smell the cream to determine its scent. But since this is so mild, its perfect for sensitive skin.
The cream is not tested on animals and says that it is perfect to sooth irritated, rough, scaly skin. So I assume this would be the perfect product for psoriasis or egzema. But don’t quote me on this. The cream is 92 % organic with 8% natural plant derived ingredients. So this diaper cream is approved by this mommy.
So on to the Peter Rabbit Organic Shampoo/wash:
Hunky Hubs filled the tub and used the wash to help create bubbles for J. He wasn’t too impressed with its lathering ability for creating bubbles, but the bottle does not say “bubble bath”, so I have no complaints about it. It lathered very nicely while washing J myster’s hair, and I rinsed and repeated. It didn’t really have a scent at first…which is nice for organic products. Sometimes over abundant smells are nauseating. It worked just like the other wash we use. After bath time, I got J out of the tub and put in jammies and brushed his hair. His hair seemed to tangle less. So that’s a thumbs up there!
We were downstairs playing when J suddenly fell off the couch and I was consoling him, and when his head was tucked under my chin I smelled the faintest spearmint smell from his hair. It smelled really good. While I didn’t notice it in the bath, I did notice this nice smell when his head was against my chest. I looked at the bottle and sure enough there is peppermint oil in the wash. While you might not think its a good smell for baby wash, it actually comes across really well because it is not in the least over powering.
So I rate Peter Rabbit products 2 thumbs up and would definitely at least purchase some books and the diaper cream again if I found them in a store.
Since the company is not hosting a giveaway with me for these products. I will give one lovely cloth diapering mother the other jar of diaper cream and baby wash with the purchase of a cloth diaper. Just visit Lynhea Designs at the top.
I encourage you to go to http://www.peterrabbit.com/us/index.asp and peruse thru their online store! I just saw on there that you can create your very own Peter Rabbit Puppet Show!
