Grateful I’m Not Pregnant Anymore!

When it comes to being pregnant, there are women that love it, women who hate it, and women who feel something in between on the subject. It probably has a lot to do with how pregnancy has treated you and whether you have been pregnant multiple times or not.

If you never had morning sickness, indigestion and you had a pregnancy glow, rather than pregnancy acne, you may love being pregnant and all the attention you get with it.

If however you suffered from hyperemesis, ptylism, indigestion so severe you’ve compared it to drinking straight acid and instead of showing off a cute belly bump, you’ve wanted to hide it due to stretch marks, you might have a different perception of pregnancy.

For me it was half in half. My first and most of my second trimester I was miserable with baby number 2. I felt the best in my third trimesters with both of my babies up until the very end where most mothers generally feel the same way…”get this baby out!”

When you have your baby, oxytocin, the same hormone that helps your milk come in and that is at its highest when you are in love, makes you forget about the last month of pregnancy where all you wanted to do was “get the baby out”

So I’m writing this post before I forget about all the things I kept waiting to do once I wasn’t pregnant anymore.

So here is why I am thankful not to be pregnant anymore:

1. I can lay flat on my back again and get a nice refreshing sleep!
2. I don’t have to wash dishes sideways because my belly is in the way.
3. I can now reach things on the shelves I couldn’t while pregnant (drove my husband nuts that everything ended up on the bottom two shelves)
4. I can drink coffee!!!!
5. I don’t have to worry about nitrates or seafood! I can enjoy a sub sandwich without worrying about Listeria, or mercury levels in my seafood.
6. I will soon be able to run again! (As soon as it doesn’t hurt to cough or sneeze anymore)
7. I have more energy. Yes I still have to get up with the baby two or three times a night, but I do have more energy than I had the last few months of pregnancy!
8. BY GOLLY, I can bend over and pick up stuff off the floor again!!
9. I will soon be able to enjoy some zumba and a good workout.
10. (In Theory) I will be able to keep my house cleaner because I won’t need to nap all the time.
11. My boobs look amazing now!  😉
12. I don’t have to worry about what to wear anymore since I was out growing even my maternity clothes.
13. The appearance of my stretch marks can only get better from here on out.
14. Getting up off the couch doesn’t require the help from my husband anymore.
15. I can brush my top back teeth without gagging.
16. I don’t have to pee every half hour.
17. I can now stand the smell of ketchup without running to the bathroom wanting to hurl.
18. And I am saving the best for last, I no longer have to carry a towel with me from room to room to spit into due to ptylism, or roll down the window while driving to hawk a loogie. (I endured almost 23 weeks of that lovely symptom, which is enough for me to put an end to the madness and say I’m done being pregnant.) My husband and my two boys are all I need!

I am excited and eager to enjoy a multitude of other aspects of life. It will only get better from here!
