Back in June I blogged about my son starting “Kindercamp”, and boy was it a milestone for us, especially since my son has rarely ever been cared for by anyone other than myself and a friend or a relative. He went toKindercamp and impressed us with his motivation and drive to do well in school. He impressed me and his teacher so well it made me second guess the endless nights lying awake wondering if the school we signed him up for, was a good choice. I now know without a doubt that our little JJ (not so little anymore) will do well in school where ever he goes and while for a few weeks after Kindercamp I contemplated our decision, and even made an excel pros and cons list (because I’m a crazy list maker) we’ve chosen the school that I believe will challenge JJ in the best way and be a good fit for our family life as well.I am lucky to live in a town where we have educational options that are free if you choose the charter school route. But I’m also very well away of how much parents “today” tend to over think the little things and underestimate our children. We coddle much more than our parents did, not that there is anything wrong with that, except when we don’t allow our children to grow. I totally underestimated my son and I’m oh so very proud of this little/big guy too.
He will be starting Kindergarten this week and when I write that post, I’m totally breaking out the old baby photos and will try not to cry my eyes out over my laptop keyboard while he’s at his first day of school.
Time keeps ticking on…
