Before I get to “Today”, I wanted to take a brief moment and talk about my hair. I have had a hate hate relationship with my hair since well forever…since I’ve had children to be frank mainly because I have no time to style it and keep it looking nice and I end up doing the mom I’m too busy to care about my looks pony-tail.
I changed that on Saturday and went to a good friend and brother-in-law of mine and he did this to my hair:
I call this “maintenance free style”! Just throw some mouse in it and a little leave in conditioner and I got a head full of locks I love. Yes, yes its a perm. Don’t knock the perm, I realize we are not in the 80’s anymore, but I think this look suites me. I had my hair permed before kids and liked it then, and don’t see why I wouldn’t continue to like it now.
Today, I had a little minor out-patient surgery that we’ve been worried about for a little while. It was really a strange feeling being all numbed up, laying flat on a table feeling a doctor rip and tear at your flesh. Truth be told, I’m no stranger to surgery, but each time I have it, it definitely makes for some anxiety, no matter how small the procedure is.
In this case it was a lump I had removed on my back next to my spine. Now I’ve had spinal surgeries due to scoliosis, in fact I have steel rods on each side of my spine. When this lump showed up next to my spine, naturally one gets a bit concerned. The most concerning part was waiting for the ultrasound results about a month ago to rule out a tumor. So today it was removed and will still be tested in a lab to make sure there’s nothing else going on.
I’m still on pain medicine right now, but tomorrow should be a typical day being mom and chauffeur. Today I’ve spent time in bed watching one of my favorite TV shows on Hulu Plus, “Nashville” and letting my sutures heal.
I’m going to milk this day for all its worth (even though I really am fine) and just relax because tomorrow hubby is back at work and I won’t get his help with the kids.
If only I could have one more day off! 😉
