Welch’s Graham Slam Dudes: The Perfect Afternoon Snack or LunchBox Addition

It’s no secret that PB&J’s are just one of those things that accompany childhood like crayons and tricycles. It’s a childhood right of passage in my book. Heck as an adult when I’m making my kids’ lunches during the week, I can’t help but lick the butter knife or snatch a spoonful of yumminess for myself. When my kids aren’t watching of course, because if I let them see me, they’d want their own spoonfuls of yumminess, then the jar would be gone way sooner than I’d like!

Sometimes with coaching soccer, helping with homework, running errands and running kids to and from events I forget to make the lunches for the next day. I try my best to remember, but often things come up that keeps me from this daily task and I need a quick remedy. This is when Welch’s Graham Slams! Grape that can be purchased at Wal-Mart comes to the rescue. When you have just minutes to get a lunch packed and in a backpack before the bus gets here, these Graham Slams are a life saver and my kids’ new favorite afternoon snack! The best part about it is that you can pull them right out of the freezer and they’ll be thawed enough for eating by lunch time.

You can find these in the freezer section at Wal-Mart

I also love creative lunch ideas and since  I don’t like to pack the same things every day because kids grow bored of the things they eat all the time. Welch’s Graham Slams! Grape help with lunchbox boredom!

I made these  Welch’s Graham Slam! Grape more fun by adding eyeballs and decorative frosting to make these fun faces below.

Tutorial:

  1. You can be way more creative than I was with the decorating. I chose a funny face because my boys love to eat things I put eyes on.
  2. When you add the eyes, make sure you put a dot of frosting on the back of the candy eyes so they’ll stick to the Welch’s Graham Slams! Grape. I also cut mine in half so they would fit better in our lunchbox containers, but they are not larger than a regular sandwich container.
  3. Draw your funny face with a fine tipped decorative cookie frosting.  Wilton’s has a variety to choose from. Get creative, or even let your kids do it themselves.

And as you can see, they are totally 100 percent kid approved.

  6. These snacks are so cute. No kid can reject these snacks hehe! My mother always served me creative Paranthas (Indian Vegetable stuffed breads); giving them different shapes, making smileys with tomato ketchup, and more. I really miss those childhood days 🙂

  7. Ha! kids do love to eat silly treats and this one looks awesome. 🙂 I haven’t seen the Graham Slams from Welch’s but I will be looking now (and I love the name).
