When A Weekend is Not For Relaxing

I tell you what, this parenting thing…it’s not for sissies. Today, after a day of hauling bricks across the yard and building our garden wall, dealing with toddler melt downs and fights between the kids and my husband’s impending back issues, I am exhausted! The weekend isn’t over yet either. I have painting to do tomorrow, but at least its not a big daunting project. It’s a little one because I’m turning it into one.

We have begun painting the play room. Last weekend I painted the trim, and tomorrow I plan on painting just one wall. It will be a neat little dry erase wall that the kids can color on with washable crayons. Painting the rest of the room will come later, slowly but surely. I’ve learned taking on giant projects with little kids around is pretty much impossible. It takes longer, but at least breaking up the project and doing a little bit at a time makes it less daunting.

I am thankful though that the garden bed is made. Last weekend we took a sledge-hammer to the old outdated bricks that surrounded the garden bed, we hauled those bricks to the side of the house and chose new brick, and now that project is all done. We just need to fill in the flower bed once its warm enough to plant stuff!

I will be so glad when the projects come to an end and we can just sit back and enjoy our house. We are getting there, but I’m anxious to get it all done before my oldest starts kindergarten, because if I think I don’t have enough time in my day now, I’ll have even less then.
