35….I’ve Arrived

I have reached a new version of myself. Since we’ve moved, I’ve decided to take a hard look at life and how I’m spending my time. Am I intentional with what I do every day? Does it make a difference? Is it a time sucker, or does it contribute to something? On a side note before we get into that, I have to say I am totally enjoying each and every space in our new home. I’m loving everything, down to my two porches, to our back yard…seriously EVERYTHING! I wake up each morning thinking how did I get so lucky, how am I so blessed? I have to pinch myself to make sure I’m not dreaming.

While we still have a few rooms we haven’t officially settled into, like the dining room that has no table, and our master bedroom that is patiently waiting a king size bed one day, we are officially moved in with little more to do.  We are rid of 99.9 percent of the boxes, the furniture is in place, some pictures still need to be hung and some spaces, corners and nooks still need to be figured out, but overall, I can look around and say, yes indeed we are home and that this could be our forever home. I don’t think there’s anything more special than that feeling of feeling like you are right where you’ve always wanted to be in life, financially, from the neighborhood, to friendships…I feel like I’ve finally arrived. I just turned 35 and its going to be an amazing year and I also think it will be a year of self discovery as I search for what I want to do outside of this home when my youngest goes off to Kinder. Life has changed and I’m loving every bit of it. I’m learning to slow down a bit, to take things in…to go for walks, to enjoy this new life. I feel like I’ve arrived finally at a new way of being, a new way of living….a new everything.

35, I’m not afraid of you. While I can’t change what can’t be changed about myself, I can improve on what I want to improve on. I at least have some control in that. Hello 35, Hello new home. I’m happy here and each day is a blessing.

  1. I really like your outlook on the age thing and moving to a new home. Congrats on that by the way! Im sure by now you have settled in nicely and I hope you’ve settled in to the new age of 35. I just had a birthday myself and I turned 42. That was a biggie for me but its a new year with new possibilities and I look forward to the journey. 🙂

  2. I believe 35 is a good year, Congratulations on your birthday, your new living space and a new beginning of you,,

  3. You are someone I would enjoy spending an afternoon with. Your home sounds lovely — two porches!! wow, that sounds like heaven to me.

  4. Sounds like you’ve got 35 under control. Sometimes I joke that my 30’s felt more like my 20s. I think you become more self aware and start thinking about your life and how you are living it.

    1. I agree. I do feel more self away…although right now…I’m just in a state of “unsureness” about next year…I suppose I should just enjoy this time as much as possible before things change once again.

  5. I am loving this post! It’s nice that you’ve finally settled into the new home and there’s nothing more refreshing than welcoming a new way of living and a new perspective about life!

  6. What a wonderful attitude. I can’t believe how many people complain about getting older. They are missing out on the beauty of their current age. I’m happy that you have things in place.

  7. happy bday and good to know that you love your new home! its always a blessing when we celebrate our bdays. its that time of the year to reflect and change things we need to change or improve. hope you’re having the best bday =)

  8. Congratulations on the new home. It makes me glad that you have embraced who you really are. Age is just a number, a statistic and we are more than that! Love that you are happy and I know you’ll always stay happy today and everyday!
