4 Signs That You Need a New Mattress Topper (For Back & Side Sleepers)

CrystalCove

I know that you can agree with me that we all “hurt” the same when comes to sleeping on the wrong bed.

From what I’ve learned so far, even the most expensive mattress can turn to be the poor choice you made in a euphoric state, while the salesperson somehow convinced you that you’d sleep like a baby on it. Long story short, I have a back sleeping mattress and I most sleep mostly on my back, occasionally turning to my side. My bed is “boosted” with a mattress topper after it turned out to be almost impossible for me to properly relax in both positions, continually trying to find the right spot.

I’m fully aware that buying a new mattress cannot be done immediately, especially if your current one is still new, and you paid big money for it. Even if you already use a mattress topper, these things aren’t going to last forever, since they’re far thinner than a regular mattress.

Since you’re here reading these lines, I assume you gave this option a thought, but if you aren’t sure about it, let me help you with a few pieces of advice.

You need a new mattress topper if you:

1. You don’t feel comfortable enough – The main reason why mattress toppers exist is to make your sleep even more comfortable. They are an excellent booster for firm beds or beds that are older and start losing their comfort and shape.

If your mattress feels super firm (this is especially important for side sleepers), then your sleep for sure will not feel pleasant. You need a softer topper that will ease the pressure and will let you sink in a little bit. Even if you sleep on your back (assuming that your bed is extra firm or not so comfy), such mattress topper will be an excellent choice, because you’ll still get the support for your spine and yet the comfort will not be excluded.

2. Support – This is important, no matter how you sleep, but all you fellows back and side sleepers, need to remain well supported. When I sleep on my side, I don’t need pressure to my hips, but my back still needs to be supported, so I don’t wake up unable to get up or move. Here’s a quick list of the best ones to sleep on. When I sleep on my back, I need support all over my body, and everything should be aligned and balanced.

My supportive topper is a game changer for me because it gives me everything my mattress can’t.

3. Your mattress is old – This is perhaps the best way to protect your old mattress and still not spend thousands of dollars on a new bed. I think I did a great deal with my current mattress topper. Besides it’s comfortable and doesn’t put pressure on my body, it also keeps the bed protected, and postpones its durability.

4. You need a different material – If your bed is made with innersprings and you need a bit of memory foam for additional comfort, a mattress topper will do an excellent job. Back and side sleepers need a layer of memory foam to reduce the pressure and to make the firm bed pleasant and cozy. Also, a little responsive material didn’t kill nobody.

  1. All 4 tell me I need a new mattress. I am a side sleeper and wake up with sore hips. I never knew that a side sleeper should always pick softer or at least medium firm mattress. I am going to check out the memory foam mattresses. Thank you for the information
