J myster is a feisty energetic kid that only stops when he is either forced to sleep, or he falls asleep in some weird position that I absolutely must take a photo of.
Baby B, on the other hand, is more laid back. He’s an observer. He’s quiet, and has a killer smile with the deepest most piercing blue eyes one could have. Everyone who meets him can’t get over his bright blue eyes. (All daddy might I add!) I have the hazel green eyes.
I am happy to see the difference in personality with my boys. J might be the feisty energetic kid, but he’s also really smart, really inquisitive and he’s got a sweet side outside of taking toys away from his brother, which I think is a natural occurrence in sibling rivalry.
JJ loves to help. Sometimes though, mommy doesn’t want or need his help and sometimes his helping is more of a mess for me to clean up later, but I know its all to test his abilities toward being an independent individual. He asks a ton of questions and I can see the wheels turning as he processes all this information he is absorbing. From the time he wakes up, to the time he falls asleep he does not stop talking. He’s a communicator.
Baby B, on the other hand, does not communicate very well yet, which can tend to lead to frustration when things aren’t going his way. I love that the two of them are so different. If I were to write a letter to JJ for him to read when he’s older it would say something like this:
JJ, I think you are one awesome, smart, funny and caring little dude and I love your enthusiasm for all things intellectual. I love that you get excited when we do school work together and I love that you want to accomplish so much. I love your imagination and I love listening to you play and come up with crazy scenarios in your head for your action heroes I just know one day you will be something amazing as long as you never lose this drive. You are so smart because you want to be. Not because anyone has pushed you, you want to learn and that’s the best attitude to have. You are also very stubborn. You do not give up easily, which can be a good and a bad thing. I’d like to think you got your stubbornness from your mommy, your mommy never gave up on anything and so far, you haven’t either. Keep trying hard in all you do and you will be amazing. You ARE amazing and I am so proud of you.
Braidy, you are refreshing! When I haven’t smiled, you make me smile. Your laugh, your big blue eyes are so comforting to me. You remind me of how short childhood is and all I want to do is make sure you and your brother have the best memories. You love to cuddle and you recently learned how to say “apple” and I love how you applaud yourself with clapping and saying “yay” when you accomplish something. You have a sweet soul and I love the spontaneous kisses and hugs you have for me. Sometimes when you are playing, you’ll see me, and run over for a hug and that just warms my heart every time. You love all things technology, so I can see you following your daddy’s footsteps in the IT business. You are a sweet blessing.
I want both of you boys to know that mommy is not perfect. Mommy makes many mistakes, but I will always love you. Learning how to be a mommy can be hard work sometimes and it doesn’t come naturally. You have to work at it. My love for you might be natural and unconditional, but I know that I’ve shown my frustrations to you while trying to parent you both the best I can and I know I’ve lost my temper, and the moments where you see me upset and angry are the moments I’m the most human. They are moments that have built up and then are released when I get frustrated.
I am learning.
Just like you are learning new things every day…I am learning each day how to be a better mom, because you deserve to have the best mom one can have. So I want you to know I will always try my hardest to be the best for you. I think both of you just rock and its an honor to be your mom. I know that we will have our battles with each other and there may be times you hate me. I just want you to know that if there are times that you hate me, to put yourself in my shoes because the only thing I ever want for you is the best. I want you both to be well-rounded people.
To be well-rounded people, you will have to fail at things…
you will have to learn to wait for things…
or earn things because that is life.
I want you to be as equipped for “life” as possible.
It’s not because I don’t want to give you the world.
But I want you both to be humble with the things that are given to you.
I want you to accomplish things with hard word and dedication.
There are some things that I don’t think should come easy to you because I want you to have appreciation for them.
So just know that whenever we have our battles, (and we will) I will share this letter with you, so you understand where I’m coming from and that what I want for you is only the best.
Thank you both for being sweet little blessings to your daddy and I. We will always always always love you!
