Saturday I spent the day battling allergies and working at planting potted flowers. That morning the family and I got up with purpose. We got our shoes on and walked out the door right after breakfast and hit Home Depot. After all it is May and even though we’ve done some gardening already this spring, I was really excited to get some annuals planted in my window boxes! They look perdy I tell ya!
I also went with my mother in law to Viola’s Tomato Fest to kick off veggie planting season. The first part of May is when its safe to start planting veggies and I picked up a Roma tomato plant. So now we have strawberries, potatoes, cilantro and now a tomato plant growing!
Yesterday with all the transplanting of flowers into pots and just getting messy while gardening, I was so worn out I fell asleep at about 9:30. Then of course woke up to a mess of a house because while I spent the day gardening outside, the kids tore up the inside.
A mother’s job is never done.
But I quickly realized how easily I could get kids to start cleaning up after themselves. I decided to hand out cookies when they successfully cleaned their rooms. Then we tackled the chore box and whipped the house into shape with one cookie per chore at a time. It is not beneath me at all to bribe with cookies. I know this is a no-no in the big bad book of parenting, but really would “we” go to work every day if we didn’t get a paycheck?
Exactly….so cookies to children, equal paycheck to adults. Nuf said!
My foul, “I don’t want to clean”, mood quickly turned around when I saw the kids happily putting their toys away for a chocolate chip delight. See I got this parenting thing down! 😉 As long as I’m never out of cookies!
The rest of sunday, I spent writing up blog posts and taking pictures of this awesome bracelet I get to review over on “Mommy Only Has 2 Hands“. I was so excited to choose out my bracelet and charms from SOUFEEL.com. This bracelet and its six charms come in at $150 and I think it makes an awesome mother’s day gift and goes great with my spring/summer wardrobe! Not to mention these charms work with Pandora bracelets, so if you have one of those, you can add more charms to it over at Soufeel.com
