About Me

heartfullyheatherbio

I am a Colorado transplant born with a love for making a house a home. While I spent many years envying the “shiplapped” homes of the world on Pinterest, consumed with visual perfection, I realized that it’s the memories we make as a family that will last far longer than a perfectly decorated home. So my new life’s mission is preserving the memories I make with my family, right here on this blog.

In 2004, I graduated college at NAU (Northern Arizona University) with a degree in Electronic Media and an emphasis in Journalism. From there, I went right into my career and became a director of the 6 and 10 pm newscasts at KNAZ in Flagstaff Arizona.

In 2008 my world changed when KNAZ shut its doors while I was pregnant with our first child.  It was a very uncertain time for us, but we’ve persevered through the storms. I started up my freelance writing business and this blog while raising our boys.

In 2017, we left our comfortable hometown of Flagstaff Arizona for more job security. That quest first lead us to the Western Slope of Colorado where we were blessed to explore so much of Colorado’s beauty and backcountry roads. We’ve visited places like Marble, Black Canyon of the Gunnison, Aspen, Rifle Falls and more. Opportunity landed in our direction and we relocated to Loveland/Fort Collins Colorado in late October of 2017. We have enjoyed getting to know the area and I can’t wait to explore all Northern Colorado has to offer.

As of late, I am going through a bitter divorce. I never thought it would get to this point. I always held out hope for change. On Heartfully Heather you’ll probably find me blogging about divorce, faith in our Lord and Savior and persevering through the difficult roads ahead that divorce makes uncertain. You can plan life out and hope for the best, but God has a way of bringing things into focus when he knows your spiritual growth can handle it. I am certain He is doing that with me through this divorce no matter how painful it is.

  1. If you like mountain life and beach life, consider living in central North Carolina. Two hours east and you’re at the beach. Two hours west and you’re in the mountains. It’s gorgeous there.

  2. you write so beautifully and heartfelt! I’m so glad you’ve found your love a your passion now despite hard times. As a fellow blogger know your not alone and we hear you!! I’m battling chronic disease at the moment while raising my little family too… blogging gives me my voice and makes my problems feel small in the whole scheme of things… my family and my writing gets me through… don’t ever stop.
