Christmas Parties and Sick Kids

As it always is this time of year, we’ve been busy with Christmas parties. This was a picture of the kids enjoying dessert at my husband’s work Christmas party. Photo Dec 17, 10 04 24 AM

Braidy has fallen in love with our little kitten Bell. He loves to cuddle her and take care of her.

After we got back from the doctor it spiked again.

Shortly after the above picture was taken, Braidy came to me and said he needed a jacket and he was shivering. I took his temp and found it was 102.6 and I called the doctor’s office and took him in.

Laying on the couch watching Christmas movies with an ice pack on his head.

Later that night after his Tylenol wore off, we saw it got really high again and had to get him into a luke warm bath with more Tylenol. The poor guy slept most of the afternoon away.

But today, he just has a low-grade fever and he’s acting his normal self. My kids have never had a temperature as high as it was reading on the monitor last night until now! It was scary!

  1. Aww, little guy. You know when they’re shivering it’s time to take the temps. Glad to see in the comment above that he’s feeling good enough now to request cookies. 🙂

  2. Awww..poor guy. My daughter is actually home sick school for her. Everyone around our area is getting sick. We had over 100 students out of school one day and that was only from two of the schools. It’s really bad this year.

  3. I have one of those touchless thermometers too. My husband was super sick yesterday, we think it was food poisining. I whipped out the braun thermometer and luckily he didn’t have a fever.

Hope your little boy is doing better.

    1. Thanks Liz! I was so scared when he was shivering and staring off into nothingness. This was the first time a child of mine had a temperature that high! He is so much better today!

  4. My kiddo has had two fevers this month already and he rarely ever gets sick. When they’re sick like that all you can think about is getting them back to good health as quickly. Glad your son is feeling better. 🙂

  5. Poor little guy. I hate it when I have a fever so I can’t imagine how awful it must be for the little ones. Glad that he is feeling better now. 🙂

  6. My one year old was running a fever all day yesterday and most of today. It seems to have gone away now, but he was up around 103 until I gave him Tylenol and would go right back up to 103 as soon as it wore off. It’s scary!

  7. We have been fortunate not to have sickness run our house…yet. Last year around this time there was snow and it was super cold. Sick children around Christmas and the holidays makes for a rough go at it. So sorry your little one is going through this and that he makes it out of the woods of sickness soon and can enjoy the upcoming festivities.
