Finally Moved In…Sorta

So we up and moved our lives from Arizona to the western slope of Colorado. We had a week of emotional goodbyes. It was difficult but I’m surprised I didn’t cry more than I did. Flagstaff is a place I’ve grown attached to. It’s a place with wonderful people who I’ll never forget and my heart will always call me back there. The above picture I took right before left AZ. Saying goodbye to that home was so hard. Saying goodbye to everyone else…even harder.

Wednesday bright and early we set out on the road and just about 10 hours later we made it to our temporary home. We are renting for about five months while we have a house built about seven miles away from where we are now. So needless to say, we will not be completely unpacking. We get to enjoy the Colorado River up close and personal, (it’s only a few minutes away from our house) and explore a lot of the areas that make Colorado so beautiful.

My husband starts his new job on Tuesday and I’ll be spending the days getting a little more settled in here, finding summer activities for the kids to do and getting to know the ins and outs of this small town. The town has a Walmart and a City Market for grocery shopping! That’s it. But there’s a lot of farming here, so I’m sure there are Farmer’s Markets here that I will be happy to take advantage of. Plus the town my husband will be working in has a Target. Denver is also about two hours away, so we aren’t really far away from a lot of things, but far enough away to still enjoy that little town feel that I’ve grown to love.

Blogging will probably pick up more over the next couple of weeks. I’ll be excited to start it back up because it’s been such a long time that I’ve been able to blog without it being about my husband’s back or concerns of moving. I’d love to write about other things again.

How long did it take you to feel at home when you moved to a new city or state?

  1. We live out in the country and love everything about it. Congratulation on our move and I hope you get settled in quickly and find new friends and activities you love.

  2. Wow you must be excited for your new home to be done. I hope everything goes smoothly for you in the process.

  3. Congratulations on the move! I too would hate to leave Flagstaff – if I lived there that is – I have only been a few times but loved it there. I can however totally see why a move to Colorado would be a good idea for the family and it too is a GORGEOUS location! I am sure you will find your roots there.

  4. I have never been to those two states but I understand the emotions of moving. My husband used to be in the navy (now retired) and moving was always hard for us.

  5. I know moving can be an interesting adjustment. Especially looking for your favorite places to shop get to that Target and find a good Farmers Market!

  6. Moving is never easy! I needed to adjust to the new life when I migrated to the US! I think it’s awesome that you’re having a house built. I’m sure you’re very excited about that as well. It’s good to settle and just learn more about your new home!

  7. Wow Colorado sounds like a beautiful state to live it. You must be so excited for your new house being ready to move into!

  8. Funny that you went from Flagstaff to western CO. Those are the only two places I’ve ever been that make me consider leaving northern Michigan. Moving is stressful, but change can be good!
