Getting Into The Christmas Spirit

Wow, so Christmas is here yet again. I have to be honest with you guys, I haven’t “felt” the holidays this year which is surprising since we just moved into our forever home. I mean this home is perfect for us, I should be happy for our first Thanksgiving and first Christmas here, but I just have found it hard to embrace the holidays this year. The main reason I think comes down to my husband’s back condition.

My husband has good days and bad days with degenerative disc disease and for the last few years, his bad days have outnumbered the good days. It’s hard to be happy when the person you love is going thru chronic pain. While my husband can grin and see an end to his pain in sight now that he’s having surgery, for a while there he couldn’t see a reason to smile. This in turn, had an effect on my mood. You know how people’s moods can rub off on you?

I’m hoping that next year we’ll have put Scott’s back pain in the past and can focus on happier times in the home we love and can’t wait to share with our readers. Especially the projects we want to tackle, like painting our kitchen cabinets in April or May of next year. We’ll be taking you along for the ride and sharing our tips and experiences doing once again another kitchen renovation project. I’m very excited about it!

So with Christmas being four days away, all the shopping done and shipped, it’s time to get in the Christmas spirit, for the kids’ sake at least. 😉 The kids are out of school this week and I think we’ll bake and watch Christmas movies and do a fun Christmas craft.

Merry Christmas!

  1. I’m sorry about your husband’s back. I hope the surgery makes him feel much better. I hope you and your kids end up enjoying your Christmas together. That picture of your boys is very sweet.

What do you think?
