Gray Is Here To Stay

Home interior paint trends in 2017 seem to be sticking to the same formulas of recent years, which means gray will be one of the most in-demand colors of the year. It has proven to be one of the easiest base colors to work with for homeowners and interior designers alike. Below are a few of the benefits that come from the use of this sedate and relaxing color.

Gray is a neutral color that homeowners and designers both enjoy working with and around. It is easy to blend, mix and add splashes of color through furnishings and other home decor items. The basic gray backdrop allows enough reflective light to keep the surroundings pleasant, but does not shock the sense with bold color that templates of the past demanded. The calm and tranquility offered by this color is not likely to go out of style anytime soon.

Neutral colors are the most versatile in home decoration and design. You can items that are of similar hue, darker, lighter, or take a step on the wilder side with brilliant color mixes. There is an endless pool of ideas that can utilize the benefits of a versatile, neutral color base.

Change the Accent

One of the special qualities of gray that designers and homeowners love is the fact that it is easy to completely change the look and visual impact of a room. Keeping sedate gray in some areas, while adding colorful accent walls, give a room a whole new look and feel. It is a secret weapon, of sorts, for most interior decorators. Completely changing and updating the look of a home means minimal repainting of accent walls.

A Hint of Hue

Gray is a wonderful color, by any standard. it can be had in light, medium and darker shades. Add another hue to the mix and gray becomes a highly sought-after wall covering. Adding blues, greens, yellow, red and other combination of color hue changes the look completely. Every room can have a one-of-a-kind finished look.

No one is ready to let a practical color like gray fall by the wayside. It has proven over the last few years to have the stamina and appeal to last for decades to come. Although trends often fade, this one seems to be set to stick around for a long time to come.

  1. Personally I like gray as a color. Because it’s in between white and black, you can coordinate so many other colors with it. It also looks good with varying degrees of black or white to create or eliminate space.

  2. I have to admit when we moved in I did pick a few shades of grey, I think it adds a nice touch to a room, still light and bright without being cream or magnolia yet again.

  3. I definitely agree that grey is such a versatile color and great to work with in terms of home decorating. My best friend uses grey in all of her bedrooms and it looks fantastic!

  4. I used to not like gray so much in my young years, but as I age there’s a certain sophistication gray brings to a room that no other color can portray… I love the color choice : )

  5. OMG I literally just painted my room gray!!!!!!! YESSSS! I love yours! What’s great about it is I’m able to implement my pops of color without it conflicting with walls…. unlike whenI used to have green.

What are your thoughts?
