Guest Room Design: Episode 4

Its been a couple of months since we worked on the guest room. But since we are having guests come out in about one month, we really need to get the ball rolling on it. So we’ve made some headway over the last four days. This weekend Scott added the TV mount to the guest room along with a wall mount for our TV boxes and blu-ray player.

Check out our YouTube Video here:

One thing I wanted to make sure of was that I tied in existing colors with the bedding that were used with the wall colors. The color scheme consists of grays, blues, and whites to create what I hope is a calming space.

Colors: From Lowe’s Olympic Paint colors: Blue Opal and Bright Star (white)

Photo Wall: 10×12 Pine Forest Green Photo Wall (Sponsored)

Use of Wall Space:

To have the best use of space in this room, Scott decided to mount the TV and tv boxes to the wall so it wasn’t taking up space on a dresser. Why put a TV in a guest room? Well sometimes you just need some veg in front of the TV time in your own quiet space and you may not want to watch what the Joneses are watching. I often like to just watch TV as a way to relax before I drift off to sleep.

Episode 5:

Up next with our guest room design will be furnishing the room with side tables for the bed, a console table or dresser for a little coffee bar and possibly adding a desk and a fold up cot for kids that come and visit us. This is the one we are hoping to get that we found at a great price on Amazon.

I have enjoyed making this space feel inviting. Do you have a room you designed recently?

  1. We mounted our tv, receiver, speakers, et al on the wall in our bedroom and I loved the difference. We brought all the wiring up through the walls and it all looked very neat, clean, and professionally done.

  2. There’s nothing like knowing guests will be coming soon to get that makeover done. I’ve been there, done that. I love having the TV’s mounted on the walls of my bedrooms. It saves space and looks neat.

  3. The colors you use are perfect for male and female. They are soothing colors. Mounting the tv to the wall is always a smart choice and takes up less space.

  4. I haven’t redesigned a room lately. I’ve been applying for larger apartments though so I’ll have a guest room and I can’t wait to design one. I love the gender neutral colors you’ve used. They’re the same as in my bedroom.

  5. So nice! I wish we had a guest room but alas, all the rooms are full. Maybe when a kid moves out? I do love TV mounts though! We have one in our room.

  6. Our guest room has a long term guest in it! My daughter and her husband are living with us until her husband gets his placement. We redid the room for them.

  7. I have been wanting to take down a mirror in our bedroom and mount the TV there instead. It’s such a great way to add space!

  8. I think it’s working out well! I can’t wait to see how it looks on episode 5. It’s good to make the guests feel at home by having everything they need.

  9. That must be really fun to do making a room the way you want it. We will working on changing a bedroom over for our son and pretty excited about that.

  10. We are also looking at redoing our guest room, so this is pretty useful for us. I think utilizing wall space is very important and having a television in the guest room does make absolute sense.

  11. I don’t have a guest room in my house but in the future when I already have my own, I will definitely include atleast one guest room. Love your video, I think having a wall mounted television is a good idea too.
