Hello World!

CrystalCove

Well hello there! This first post probably won’t be read by many people. I’m ok with that. This first post here is a step out into self-discovery. I started a blog six years ago when I became a mother of a beautiful baby boy. I was so enamored with motherhood and all I could make it be. I still am. I still want to be the best mother I can be for my kids. A few days ago I realized that after six years, and two kids later, I have lost the inability to define who I am outside motherhood. Who is Heather?

Most people know my love of coffee and blogging and probably have a vision of me plugging away at a laptop while sipping on some java, with two kids screaming in the background. That’s fine…that’s very typical of my day-to-day life. But outside motherhood, there is a whole world I want to discover and look at outside the lens of parenthood. That’s why I opened this blog “Heartfully Heather”.

I wanted to have my name in my blog title because I’ve always wanted my name in it and I feel like this blog will always come back to who I am, not a niche I’m trying to fill like I am over at “Mommy Only Has 2 Hands“. My two blogs may intertwine from time to time, but this one right here is for me. It’s for my own personal interests and it’s about discovering who I am outside motherhood. At some point in my life this one might take over, and Mommy Only Has 2 Hands is far from being wrapped up, after all, I do have a three and six-year-old and much of my life is still about being a mom.

I hope you will join me on my journey of self-discovery and thank you so much for stopping by even if I ramble a lot over here. I figured Heartfully Heather could be a place where I could write freely for a little while.

  1. Hi Heather – and a great first post here – and your other blog ‘Mommy Has Two Hands’ is very innovative – I look forward to reading more about your journey of self discovery –

    1. This journey on this blog will be a little bit harder because it’s still hard for me to identify who I am outside motherhood. So it really is a journey about self discovery.

  2. You are definitely NOT alone is the need to find your voice. It is so easy to let motherhood define who we are. I’m starting to wonder if I shouldn’t start a second blog that is strictly for ME and less about a niche as well.

    1. Yeah, I know it will be slow going for quite sometime, but I thought, why not start now even if the going is slow and I can only blog over here every once in a while, at least its established.

  3. I love that you have split the two Heather – I have been thinking about it to but I can’t keep up with one lol. I give you credit girl! I can’t wait to follow your journey on this one too!

  4. It’s wonderful that you are remaining true to yourself, while embracing motherhood. We are so multi-faceted, and now multi-blogged. Can’t wait to read more about you as you.

  5. Welcome to the world of blogging! There is a lot great things to discover in this world and you will “meet” a lot of cool blogging friend. As you go further in your blog you will get more and more focused and it will evolve in to something you were hoping for! Great post!

  6. I think that this will be a great way to help find yourself outside of motherhood. I know this is something that most all mothers can relate to. Good luck to you!

  7. I think it’s so important to take the time to learn about yourself outside of your role as a mother and self discovery blogging is the perfect format! One day you won’t be introduced first as (insert child’s name) mom, but as the author of …. or whatever ๐Ÿ™‚ it’s a great journey!

    1. Exactly! Thank you Sandra, while I pride myself in being my kids’ mother, I definitely would love to be known for other things as well, not just Jaydon’s mom! Ha ha, you’ve hit what I was trying to say with this post right on the head!

  8. Love it! I’m officially following you in Feedly… so you’ve got one loyal reader right here already. ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Lisa! I’m so happy to have you as a follower! We’ve known each other for along time in the blogging world and I’m so glad you’ve come over to follow, and congrats again on expecting!! I’m so excited for you!

  9. This is a great new blog— hopefully a lot of your current followers will check it out and follow so it doesn’t take 6 years again! The name is sweet!

  10. Love the new blog! I absolutely agree, it is so important that we take time out for ourselves and celebrate who we are as individuals. Looking forward to reading your posts.

    Love the new name. ๐Ÿ™‚
