How to Get Slim…Without Exercising or a Gym Membership

 

If you’re trying to slim down, then you’ve probably resigned yourself to joining a gym or establishing a rigorous exercise regime. But what if you don’t have the time to go to the gym, or exercise just flat out bores you? Do you need to settle for an appearance that you’re less than happy with? The answer is no, of course, you don’t. While the gym and exercise have their place, they’re not the only fat busting tools. Below, we take a look at five ways to slim down that don’t involve working up too much of a sweat.

 

Shift Your Commute

If you’re only slightly overweight, then your appearance might not be a result of bad genes or anything like that. It might just be that you need a slight increase in how much you move. Let’s take a look at your day: what does it involve? If you’re getting in a car, driving to work, then sitting down for eight hours, and then driving back home, then there’ll be no surprise if you’re not quite in the shape you’d like to be in. So make two small adjustments: park further away from the office, and take the stairs, not the elevator.

 

Active Volunteering

You’re not against movement, per se; you just find the idea of paying to go a building where you can run as you stay still, or lift heavy things and then put them back down, slightly boring. That’s fair enough. So why not find an activity where you still move, but which isn’t boring? There are plenty of volunteering opportunities around that would love for you to get involved. You might be digging, serving food, or anything else; either way, you’ll be up and moving.

Science has improved the lives of countless people over the past few decades. But it’s not just about smartphones and other technological advances; significant advancements have also been made in the world of weight loss. Finally, remember your first line of defense: what you eat! Some people are guilty of eating more than they realize. Carry a calorie counter around with you, and you’ll know when it’s time to put the fork down. Once you’ve slimmed down, this will be the best tool to stay slim in the long run.

  1. I agree that eating well is the key to having a slim body but it requires a lot of discipline to be able to do this. And now that I’m in my 40s, maintaining the weight is more difficult. I tend to binge eat too especially when my period is about to come.

  2. Yes! I do have to jog daily though, but that’s because I don’t eat the greatest. But that helps balance out the cupcakes. I do try to always hit 10,000 steps a day!

  3. I would love to do that fat freezing contour. If I could I would. I exercise regularly and nothing seems to be coming from it. I will definitely try a couple of these ideas out.

  4. Very helpful suggestions, if you ask me. I think these are definitely a must when you want to lose weight but have no time to spend on the gym. Simply try to be more active in terms of the things that you do daily. Of course, eating well is a huge contribution as well.

  5. A lot of people wouldn’t think of yoga when they think about ways to lose weight but man does it help out a lot. My mom starting doing yoga (to help her horrible posture) and she lost over 25 pounds (and ALL she did was yoga, she wasn’t dieting or watching what she ate!).

  6. Interesting way to look at getting moving and working out. I know many people can’t afford or live to far away go to a gym all the time.

  7. I agree that one does not have to hit the gym in right earntest to shed those unwanted flabs of fat. Simple lifestyle changes can work wonders. I would recommend simple aerobic and yoga exercises.
