Its Not Who You Are That Holds You Back…

 

 

…It’s who you think you’re not. 

I’m not an athlete.

I’m not a morning person.

I’m not patient.

I’m not a good person.

I’m not smart enough.

I’m not a public speaker.

I don’t have good ideas. 

I am not a good writer. 

All of these things I have thought about myself at one point in time or another….and all of them don’t have to be true. They are only true if I let them be true.

My inner voice needs to say this instead:

I’m physically active and will get better with continued practice. 

I do my best work in the afternoons and evenings. 

I am understanding.

I strive every day to be better than I was the day before. 

I have things that I am good at that others aren’t. I am smart in the things I put my attention and time into. 

I’m nervous when I speak in public but I do have valuable things to say.

Maybe my idea hasn’t been heard this way or by these people. 

I can write and express my ideas, even if it means re-reading and editing several times.

Changing your inner thoughts can really empower you. Instead of thinking, I’m just not that kind of person. When you want to be, you have to change your inner thoughts. 

If you could be good at anything and I mean anything…what would you be good at?

  1. We definitely need to just believe in ourselves! I always think of the famous people who had the odds stacked against them, the artists who were told they would never amount to anything..
