Leave Your Cares Behind on a Mediterranean Cruise

CrystalCove

Mediterranean cruises offer travellers the chance to experience some of the most breathtaking destinations in the world. The area is the second most popular cruise destination in the world, after the Caribbean. Itineraries are generally divided into two regions: the Western and Eastern Mediterranean. A cruise in the west offers a rich mix of culture, history, architecture, education and food. Below you’ll find a short guide – click here to see more detailed itineraries.

No Worries, No Hassle

A Mediterranean cruise is an excellent opportunity to visit several places within a relatively short period of time. With this hassle-free cruise holiday, you don’t need to pack and unpack when the ship calls at different ports. This is one of the great benefits for families with children. Visiting the different ports also enables you to learn about different ways of life. You will also have the opportunity to visit some of the world’s famous cultural sites, art galleries and museums.

Incredible City Stop-offs

Rome, Barcelona and Marseilles are among the popular ports of call on a cruise of the Western Mediterranean. These ports offer great education, culinary and artistic experiences. Picture ancient gladiators fighting in battles in the Colosseum of Rome, one of the most iconic buildings in the world.

The capital of the Catalonia region, Barcelona, offers a wealth of cultural, historical and artistic highlights. Take a stroll through winding streets and pretty buildings in the Gothic Quarter. Pay a visit to the Picasso Museum to see one of the best collections of the artist’s early works.

There are plenty of things to do in Marseilles, the second largest city in France. Shop for regional handicrafts in the Vieux Port area and enjoy the cool breeze in this warm seaside city. Visit the numerous gardens or snack at a sidewalk café.

Lots of Fun Activities

Most cruise lines have an array of activities for every age group. There are almost always fun and educational programmes for children. While your children are busy having fun, you can lounge at the pool with a cocktail or shop in a boutique. Looking for something physical? Exercise classes, miniature golf, table tennis, basketball and volleyball.

The Western Mediterranean is the perfect cruise region to explore major cities with profound history and culture like Rome, Barcelona and Marseilles. Between stop-offs travellers can enjoy all the perks of a luxury liner.
