Back when we were renters trying to prepare ourselves for home ownership, the hubs and I decided to start recording some new shows. Some of the things we started watching were “Love It Or List It,” “House Hunters” and “Holmes on Homes”. The one we love the most, and still like to watch 2 years later, is “Holmes on Homes”. I love this show! Its about a Canadian contractor who fixes the problems other contractors have messed up on homes in Canada. Some people have totally been screwed over by their contractor and all that “contractor” did was take their money and run, leaving a poor or unfinished job in their wake. Sometimes these contractors even put a lean on the house if a home owner refuses to pay, even if the job is unfinished or not done correctly. Then, you have Mike Holmes who comes in and fixes the jobs these lousy contractors/thieves attempted; and he does it all for free with the help and budget of the TV show he produces, which pays for the work.
Anyway, we’ve gotten so engrossed in this show and just love the heart and work that Mike and his team put into fixing houses that I guess its rubbed off on my four year old son. We have shows recorded on the DVR for him like “Jake and The Neverland Pirates”, or “Octonauts” and “Doc McStuffins”, but for the last week he wants to watch “Mike Makes it Right”. which isn’t’ the title of the show, but its something he heard in one of the episodes. He’ll often request to watch it, then put his tool belt on and sit and watch an entire episode without getting distracted.
This picture is from the summer when we were fixing a lot of things around the house. He had to help.
He’s cute and he definitely loves to be a little helper. Maybe this means he will grow up to be a contractor one day! 😉
Has your child had unusual TV show requests like this?
