Our Spring Break Vegas Trip!

Last week was Spring Break for my Kindergartner and we decided it would be fun to travel with my husband to a conference for work. We went to Vegas and stayed at the beautiful Venetian Hotel. We’ve never stayed at this hotel before, and boy was it fancy!

View of our room on the 20th floor!

And this bathroom really does have a TV in it on the wall!

This was the view out our hotel window last Wednesday. If you saw my post on instagram that said “Where am I?” and you guessed Vegas, you know this town well then. 😉

Boy has Vegas changed from 6 years ago when I was last there. Most of the Forum shops in the Venetian, you have to be a millionaire to shop in. $85 dollar jeans I looked at and well put right back on the rack. 😉

But besides that, the kiddos and I had fun walking around Vegas while Hunky Hubs was in his conference.

On conference day, Hubby woke up, kissed us goodbye and headed off to sit in a meeting for 8 hours. 😉 The kids and I started the day walking down to the Denny’s right outside the Venetian across from the Mirage Hotel that does an awesome Volcanic Fire show about every 45 minutes at night.

After fueling up, we walked to the Fashion Mall which had the Lego store! Of course the kids were entertained and it was a way to pass time and let them play a little bit at the play stations. This Lego store had a Duplo block play station, perfect for my three-year old, while my older son made friends with a kiddo his age and didn’t want to leave until I promised ice cream! 😉 Photo Mar 26, 7 36 02 PM

Each kiddo got one Lego set from the store and then we headed back to the hotel room to change into our swim suits and hang out by the pool.

JJ found a little girl his age and chatted her up. It was kind of cute because he was showing off a bit. 😉  (This is six years old)

Braidy got a bit tired and cold, so he hung out with me in the warm sun as I realized how nice it was in that moment to be away from Flagstaff and out of the cold.

Macaroons, because well, I love them! Even though highly over priced!

Below is a living statue! I forgot that the Venetian did this. Its kinda cool how “still” they can be. They always give it away when they blink or divert their eyes though. This totally intrigued the kids!

That evening after Hunky Hubs got out of his conference we decided to grab some dinner and do the touristy thing. I had never been to the wax museum so we decided to go.

It was pretty fun to see how realistic the wax manikin looked.

Hunky Hubs is a big Dale Earnhardt fan and this was a fun one for him with Braidy of course drinking out of the championship cup! 😉

Photo Mar 26, 7 44 31 PMAn episode of Jerry Springer I hope I’m never on! LOL 😉

Future Talk Show Host??  Maybe?

After that we grabbed dessert and watched the Volcanic Fire Show at the Mirage and headed back to the room.

The boys were tuckered out and the next day I sang “Leaving Las Vegas” as we packed up and headed out of town.  It was nice to get away for a few days!

  1. Vegas is so fun! I wasn’t sure what to expect when we went, I kind of thought it would be schlocky. Parts were, but there is so much cool stuff! Thanks for the pictures, particularly of the Venetian, always wanted to see what the rooms looked like!

    1. Parts can definitley be that way, but there are some really upscale places to dine that I’d love to go to that doesn’t necessarily have a kids menu and crayons if you know what I mean. 😉

  2. That’s one place I haven’t yet stayed at in Vegas. I will say this, I think I like my Mirage room better judging by your photos. hehe. Looks like you guys had fun and that’s all that matters!

  3. Looks like a very luxurious accommodation and what fun to have a Spring break vacation with the whole family. My kids school does not have Spring break so we don’t enjoy Spring break at all. Beautiful photos.

  4. That’s a good perks. I’ve done this when my baby was month old ’till she was in 4 years old and we saved a lot by doing it. Looks you have a blast in Las Vegas.

  5. My friends and I stayed at the Venetian last March and it is an absolutely gorgeous hotel. Vegas is a great place to get away from the everyday and experience some indulgence 🙂 Great post about your getaway!

  6. Las Vegas is a great place to vacation. It looks like your family had a great room and much fun! I have always had a fun time when I visited Las Vegas.

  7. I’ve never been to Vegas but I sure would not mind staying at that hotel! I have been to a Wax museum and it really can blow your mind-those really look real! Would love to see that fire show. Of course I would also love to be somewhere where it is not still snowing!!

  8. How fun! It’s been years since I’ve been to Vegas, and would love to stay at the Venetian. We were able to just walk around inside it when we were there.

  9. I have not been to Vegas yet but my hubby has been wanting to go for a while now. I was not sure how we would be able to go there with kids but this hotel seems to have it all and it sure looks like your kids had a blast!

  10. This looks like a very nice room and very spacious looking.

I’ve been to the wax museum in Grand Prarie, TX and those wax models looks so realistic.

I’m jealous that it was warm enough to hit the pool too.

  11. Loads of fun–I had a friend who was there two years ago said I should bring the kiddos–I really didn’t think there would be enough for the –but I see it’s changed a lot over the years!

  12. This looks like a really fun trip! I feel like I wouldn’t know to take kids there – but it looks like there was a bunch of fun things you can do with them:)

  13. Good for you. I think Vegas is a great place to visit for an all out extravaganza vacation… It’s quite the place isn’t it? 🙂

  14. I love Las Vegas been there a dozen or so times but never paid attention to there being a wax museum there, that looks like lot’s of fun.
