So I have a little confession to make. I kind of collect coffee mugs like some women collect shoes. Last year I took an entire box of coffee mugs to Good Will because I didn’t have enough room in my cabinets. I had to pick and choose what I wanted to give away and what I wanted to keep. Some are sentimental (which are kept), but some had no real value to me and I just liked the color, so those got a new home. Ever wonder what to give a photographer as a gift? Well this is a good choice. I, am an aspiring photographer and think this thermal mug is pretty cute! What do you think?
Now this mug caters to the canon brand, but I’m a Nikon user myself, so I’ll have to look past that because this mug really is pretty cool, especially with the portable keychain shot glass it comes with. This mug can contain 11 ounces of yummy goodness. My kids were enamored with it when I opened the box and they decided the small keychain shot glass had to be theirs because it’s “small”, like them. Ha! Mommy isn’t giving it to them, but they sure did have fun drinking out of it.
I love that the larger one comes with a lid because I pretty much take my coffee with me everywhere. I’ve been known to bring coffee cups into restaurants. While the lid does not protect from spills, because I can still sip out of it with the lid closed, it will prevent liquids from splashing. The keychain shot glass though, is perfectly sealable.
I think this makes an awesome gift for your photographer friends or family members. It’s cute and usable and will surely be the talk of many conversations since not everyone has a mug like this.
I’m also really particular about travel mug lids. Have you ever had a travel mug you really loved, but then you found gunk got stuck inside the closing elements of the lid and you couldn’t clean it affectively? My husband got me a Green Bay Packers mug a few years back. I’ve only used it a few times because of the gunk that got stuck in the lid that can’t seem to be cleaned, even with the finest of baby bottle brushes. Thankfully this mug has an easy cleaning lid and closing part that can be snapped off for better cleaning.
Now I would love for it to hold more liquids but I think if it was any bigger it would destroy the illusion of it being a camera lens. I also like that it’s stainless steel inside. It keeps your drinks hot or cold longer than uninsulated cups. The detail on the outside of the cup gives a pretty good illusion of being a lens. The smaller version had my son fooled until I told him it was actually a cup. He thought that was “awesome”.
