Hey, I hope everyone had a fabulous fourth of July! We had a wonderful time at the lake. My husband had to go back to work the day after and it just kind of threw our routine off for the week, but sometimes we need mid-week breaks to help us have perspective and put things in the right order of importance going foreword. I consistently feel like I am focusing on the wrong things at the wrong times. Do you ever feel that way?
Anyway, our kids have started swim lessons bright and early at 8:30 am this morning for the next two weeks with Braidy, and all month long on Tues/Thurs with JJ. I will be living at the rec center I guess! It’s good though. I like to see my kids perfect any kind of skills. I can really see JJ on a high school swim team. He’s got the body for it.
Sunday we went to church and Braidy helped me in the toddler room and then we were treated to a guest pastor from Florida that helped us refine and clarify some points for us regarding our separation from God. He said that once we decided to be tempted by eating from the knowledge of good and evil that it removed our direct contact with God. If we had never eaten from that forbidden tree, the world may very well look like the utopia it should have always been if we allowed God to be our one true King and listened to him. Now we are left knowing both good and evil and left constantly choosing between them in our daily lives and we no longer have direct contact with God because our sin separates us from that. But thankfully He’s given us the holy spirit to guide us. It’s up to us to listen to that holy spirit.
My Bible verses for both Sunday and this morning were in Psalms. I’ll go through each one of them below.
Sunday’s verse: Psalms 18:30 – As for God, his ways are perfect: The Lord’s word is flawless: He shields all who take refuge in Him.
Prayer: Father thank you for all the times you shielded me from harm in my life. I know you let some things happen so that I grow, but thank you that I can turn to you for everything!
Monday’s Bible Verse: Psalms 138:2 – I will bow down toward your holy temple and will praise your name for unfailing love and your faithfulness for you have so exalted your solemn decree that it surpasses your fame.
Prayer: My human form does not understand how amazing and gratifying this will be. It doesn’t quite understand this yet. My human form continues to battle earthly desires but the holy spirit living within me yearns for the time when holy praise will be for an eternity. The more I read and understand your word the more I see that my human self is far from understanding the heavenly world and what you have in store for those who follow you. I am almost glad to not understand it all because if I did it would leave my mind to critique what is perfect. Instead, I will be okay with not knowing, with letting go and letting God. I will be at peace with not knowing or understanding the magnitude of your greatness.
Prayer for my readers:
I pray that anyone reading this will have a week of reflection, a week of asking themselves what it is they truly need to focus on this week. Is it family, is it spending more time in the word, is it studying to better yourself at your skill set, is it work, have you been procrastinating? Lord, I pray that you give those who read this some clarity. Amen!
