It is not always easy to get it right when designing your bedroom especially if you are trying to achieve the right look and make the most of your available spaPulling It All Together: Designing Ideas for Banishing the Bedroom Blahs at the same time.
Finishing touches like Vera Wang™ Simplicity Sheets will definitely help make your bedroom look stunning and pull it all together, so here are some tips to help you achieve a great result with your design efforts.
Use lighting effectively
If you ask most interior designers for a fundamental tip that will transform a room, many of them will probably say that lighting is the easiest and most effective way to show off your bedroom in the best possible way.
The main thing to remember is that you need to think a bit more creatively than just having two table lamps either side of the bed. Think about using wall sconces to help maximize a smaller space and light up any dark corners by using a floor lamp.
You also consider the idea of highlighting a feature space with a pendant lamp or maybe you might want to get glamorous with a real statement chandelier or alternatively, rustic and industrial with some bare bulbs strung together using colorful cords.
Using textiles to mix it up
You will be changing your bedding on a regular basis and it is always a good makeover tip to have a different supply of cotton sheets and covers to match your mood and enhance the feel of the room you are trying to create.
A bit of luxury like Vera Wang™ sheets will always help to make you feel relaxed when you settle down for the night and the great thing about bedding, is you can use colors and patterns to reflect your style and draw everything else together in the room. Speaking of textiles, a nice way of mixing things up a little is by adding a rug in the room. You’ve got carpet which fills the whole floor, but having another colour or texture that is present in the room adds another level of creativity and attention to detail when it comes to the design. If you’re looking for inspiration, check out a site like bazaarvelvet.com, where you can see how a variety of colours and designs can make all the difference to any room.
A place to contemplate or relax
Having a comfortable chair or chaise in your bedroom will instantly create a space for you to contemplate what to wear or grab a chance to relax and it also means you have a welcoming space in your bedroom if your children or partner want to come and chat while you choose what to wear.
You would not be alone if you don’t really have a bedroom that is large enough to accommodate a statement chair or luxury seating, but even an ottoman at the foot of the bed can do the trick, plus it can be used for storage as well.
Choosing the right mirrors
We don’t all want to see ourselves while we are lying in bed and if you have a small bedroom space, it can be a challenge to provide the mirror space you need when dressing but avoiding the issue of seeing your reflection where you don’t want to.
Consider positioning mirrors either side of the bed on the wall where the bed head is placed, but also give thought to what the mirror is facing, as you don’t want to see a reflection of your toilet for example.
A successful design strategy involves pulling several ideas together in order to create a unified look that reflects your style and personality in just the right way.

You touched a lot of areas in the bedroom that I haven’t even considered! Our bedroom is not that big. We chose this room because it was the closest one to the bathroom. I think the lighting is very important! It can set a mood for sure!
We will be moving soon and my husband and I have decided to do a bedroom overhaul. I really like the look of those Vera Wang sheets.
Brilliant ideas, I have just bought a new and very bright duvet cover for our bedroom and some very cute matching lights, cannot wait to have them all up!
My husband likes that the mirror reflects the bathroom. He can then see me undressing, I did not consider that though.
Wow thanks this has given me some ideals for sure to do in our bedroom thanks for sharing it love it
I love redoing my bedroom. It is such a personal space. I redo it every two years and I change the basic decoration with the seasons.
You really posted some awesome ideas here! Thanks for sharing!
I find it extremely challenging to decorate my bedroom because my mood changes and I want a room that would fit my personality. I find that I often lean towards dim lighting because it helps me sleep better at night. Soft sheets are definitely my favorite!
I love my bedroom, just need to make an awesome “chandelier” out of zip ties for some drama 🙂
I love what the room looks like and love your ideas, That wallpaper in the first pick is pretty amazing!

I love the idea of putting the mirrors on the side of the bed rather than somewhere it would be a distraction.
These are such great ideas! I’ve been wanting to do something new with the master bedroom, so thank you for the tips!
The choice of colour is so important. For instance in our last house my bedroom got the sun all day so a simple blue and white decor was perfect. In our present house though the bedroom rarely gets the sun so I’ve used warm colours instead.
I love our bedroom simply because its my own quiet place. I can read books there or simply relax. But i havent thought it can still improve with the proper light and other tips you have mentioned. Im excited to apply some of your tricks. Thank you.
I love all of these tips. I have two overhead lights in my room and also a lamp. Lighting is so important for creating the right mood and energy in your bedroom!
I like the idea of using different textiles to change things up a bit. I also need to change up my lighting!
I love to read about interior design and get new ideas for my home… I rearrange my furniture in my house and add a few changes all the time (my kids love it!) Love the two bedrooms you chose to post, by the way…

Great tips to make your room become your sanctuary! I love the lighting tips 🙂 Need to invest on some nice lights. Thanks for sharing these tips
I was amazed at the difference lighting can make to a room. We had a bulb blow in our main lighting meaning the lamp was all we had and it made the room look so much more cozy! We never replaced the main bulb!
I really need to work on my bedroom. I want it to feel like a hotel room. I also need to replace the flooring and paint. Fun times…not. 🙂
I will definitely put your bedroom designing tips to work. I’ve got to do something about my drab bedroom because I have to work in it (only place to put a desk) as well as sleep in it.
We are in the middle of doing some redecorating right now! I’m all about the mirrors so I’ve been adding a lot of chic looking ones!
I agree, designing your bedroom is not an easy job as you need to get the perfection in all corners. These are some great hacks that could come so handy. The one thing I always consider as so important is the using the lighting effectively as it could give a different look & feel over all.
Great set of ideas, im trying to refurbish all my sisters bedroom right now, ill give your ideas a try.
There is nothing like a nice set of clean sheets! I need to try this brand because I am looking for a spring/summer set!
We try to stay away from mirrors inside the bedroom because of feng shui things but placed in the right angle, I could definitely see having one. Redoing the bedroom is something that I really like. It feels like a renewal.
