Reset, Refocus, Readjust, Restart…as Many Times as You Need to!

How many times do you feel like you’ve just lost your focus and you need a reset? This happens to me about mid-week, every week. If I’m lucky I can make it to Thursday before I feel like I’ve gone way off course.

I’m here to tell you it’s okay to have a mental reset moment. To look at your surroundings and say, “hey this isn’t working!”

Maybe something isn’t working right and you have to adjust things…once again. Or maybe it’s just your thinking that needs a kick in the rear end?

All I’m saying here is that it’s perfectly okay to reset, refocus, reschedule, or re-do something to make it better, to feel better, to live better, to enjoy life more.

Redo it as many times as you need to.

I mean that if you feel off focus, do something that will hone in that focus. Go for a walk to clear your mind, then get back at it. You never know what some fresh air can do to a tired overworked mind. Sometimes that mental break or moment where you realize you just need to start over and reset yourself can truly lead to better things or the answers you were looking for.

Restarting, resetting your mind, or moving things around in your schedule is much better than giving up. Postponing something for more clarity and for your wellbeing does not mean you’ve given up. And you can even say, heck I just don’t want to pursue that right now. You have to prioritize and remember you can’t do everything.

Whatever your reset moment reveals, it should make you more productive, while also making you happier.

  1. I needed to read this today. I’ve been pushing myself hard lately, and I’ve been so committed to finishing my project, I have completely ignored my mental and physical need for some rest and a recharge.

  2. This makes me laugh out loud! I am having a hard time focusing right now because everyone keeps coming in and talking to me! I am all over the place! I need to get focused and finish out this day strong and try to find away to stay focused.

  3. I really needed this. I’m currently in my last semester of college and im so overwhelmed with school, work and post grad plans. I feel like ive lost track. Thanks for sharing this much needed post!

  4. I love this and I needed it! I have a website that isn’t doing very well and I’m helping my pet sitter which is going very well. I can’t make a living just helping my pet sitter but it makes me happy. I will likely be re-focusing a lot for the next few weeks. Thanks for this!

  5. Excellent advice! Sometimes all you need is that walk, or maybe to clean up your personal space or workspace. Sometimes a larger focus needs to be reset. Something more on a grand scale. That is where I am at right now. I am still doing my norm but pulling back a little and taking more down time to refocus ME.

  6. I feel like I am readjusting myself all the time… but I guess you’re right. It’s totally okay. There’s nothing wrong with having to re-look at your plan and get back on track!

  7. I love this!! It is this “permission” we need to give ourselves that there isn’t a fixed number of times we can start over. Thank you! Well said.

  8. I have been pushing myself to get it together so much lately, I need to remind myself that it’s ok to stop for a minute and reset and come back stronger.

  9. I definitely needed this. I’m in my busy season at work (accounting) and have been getting up early, going to bed late, working overtime, blogging and raising my son as a single mom. I need to reset and refocus for sure
