You guys we have like nine days here before school is out for the summer!
Cue Alice Cooper’s “School’s Out For Summer” song. I know kids and teachers are really excited and these nine days probably still feel like an eternity. I’m sorry!
This school year has felt incredibly long, and incredibly short at the same time!? How can that be? Well, part of it I think has been switching schools because we moved across the state in the middle of the school year. So the kids have only been in school this year here since November. In that aspect, it seems short. It seems long because August of last year when we were on the Western Slope and I was a school para, seems like a long time ago. It really wasn’t but life changed so quickly this year that I’ve compartmentalized it into believing it was longer ago than it really was.
Anway, as I’ve been able to spend more time blogging over the last six months since the kids have been in school and I’ve been home alone, (for the first time ever) blogging income has picked up! It’s amazing what you can do when you have time to think and plan and collaborate, return emails, and actually do a job! Not that my mom job is less important, it’s just nice to make some change, or in this instance, the money I’ve been able to earn has paid our weekly grocery bill. That’s really nice! It makes me hopeful that I can do more! The more time you spend investing in it, the more money you seem to make and I am not about to let a summer of kids running around get in the way of that! 😉 As a work at home parent, it’s easy to let chaos around the house and with kids distract you. Completing tasks take twice as long! But I’m determined to set up a summer schedule immediately that works for all of us and lets us still have fun. My kids will continue schooling through the summer where we will utilize our library and summer reading programs and retention workbooks to make sure they enter the next year in great shape!
At least we don’t have to worry about moving this summer. We will be enjoying the outdoors in Colorado and go on some camping trips. I’m also super excited to check out Loveland and Fort Collins Farmers Markets!
Are you dreading summer with the kids home, or looking forward to it? For me, it’s always a mixture. I love not having to prepare school lunches, but I tend to feel like my me time is gone. As for my teacher friends, because I have many, I hope you kick back these summer days with a good book and some wine! You all work so hard and need the time off!
What are your summer plans?
