Self Confidence is The First Requisite…

So when my friend was out visiting last week, we were sharing some of our favorite organization and money-saving tips with each other. She showed me a few videos on YouTube and I got some wonderful ideas. I showed her my house cleaning, menu planning and grocery budget shopping tips, to which she said, “Uh why aren’t you creating a blog or YouTube tutorial on this?” And I said….”I have no idea…”

Truthfully I’ve wanted to, but my terrible lack of confidence and poor thinking got in the way.

My reasons for not doing so: Isn’t this stuff already out there on YouTube, in blogs and on Pinterest?

My thinking was flawed of course and I see that now. I’ve held myself back because I automatically assume no one would like it and other people can do it better.

The reality is that I’ll never get better at what I want to do, unless I try. Even if someone has done it better, there might be that person out there that likes my way better than another way. I need to stop automatically degrading myself. Do you do this to yourself? If you are like me, you need to stop. I’ve allowed other people’s opinions of me, or assumed opinions of me that might not even be true, to dictate my life.

Seriously, if you think you have a great idea, showcase it! You never know who might find it and love it! Especially if you are a blogger, don’t hold yourself back because you’ve seen something better on another blog. Just do it! You’ve got an audience out there that just might love YOUR way of doing what you are doing.

So here’s your Monday morning inspiration along with a photo only 36 miles from where I currently live in the beloved Rocky Mountain National Park. We camped there this weekend and a blog post and YouTube video will be published soon about our incredible experience here. Part of my lack of self-confidence is I hate being photographed. I don’t like being in photos yet I feel sad when I’m not in them. I need to grow up right? So here’s a photo of me and the boys in one of the best places on earth.

So go get em! Don’t let your lack of confidence hold you back. Identify why you have a lack of confidence and push past it. I’m trying to identify my reasons for this and push past them as well.

What do you think holds you back and why?

  1. What a great view in the background behind you and your kids. Looks like a great spot for a camping trip. Will have to keep that in mind for future adventures with my own family.

  2. I love how you divert negative feelings into positive thoughts. You are amazing. There were also times when inferiority complex kicks in. But, even though there are a lot of people who are extremely talented and better than me, I still tap my own back and tell my self, “way to go darling, way to go!”
