The Last Year It Will Be This Way

As school starts for everyone else’s kiddos I know that this next year will be the last time it is ever this way. The last year of carefree days, no homework, no lunches to pack yet, no clothes to set out or school supplies to buy yet. It’s the last time I get to have my eldest baby home with me all to myself. Next year he will start on some adventures of his own. He will start to discover himself…who he is and next year he will learn so much more than I can ever teach him. I know there are things that I can’t do for him. It does take a village to raise a child and I am excited for his chance to spread his wings and discover the world. But I will relish this next year I have with him before society begins to mold him. Hopefully in a good way…

  1. Popping over from FMF, Heather. Oh, do cherish this year! What a special time.

I’m now writing about difficult last transitions as children enter high school and college. Trying to see the amazing firsts in even the most difficult lasts.

    Blessings on a beautiful year.

  2. It arrives faster than one can ever imagine, but there is sweet joy in watching God lead your child to his next adventure of independence. I do miss the physical presence of my son though.

  3. Awe 🙂 Yes, definitely cherish this next year. It’s hard for me to think of Sofia starting preschool in the next year or two, also. And she’ll go to kindergarten when she’s still 4 years old because of how NY cutoffs are. So crazy. I love your FMF posts as always, and you’ve got me hooked on them, now, too!

  4. Oh goodness! Enjoy him and your time with him! It’s crazy how quickly they flee off to school – it is sweet to see your cherishing this time. xx

  5. I sent my girl to PK3 last week…two mornings/five hours a week. And I still sobbed. They grow up so fast. Enjoy these precious days with your sweet one! Blessings! 🙂
