This last week we managed to roll all the seasons into Colorado! We started off the week with about an inch of snow on the ground. Tuesday was much like Monday with more snow on and off. Today though this beautiful Sunday morning the temperatures are in the 70’s and this heart is grateful for that! I saw this funny meme that pretty much sums up Colorado weather for you, especially in April and May. It can be so unpredictable!
It’s nearing the end of the school year and what a year it has been! I’ve been doing all the mom things and all the PTO things and knowing there are only two more weeks of school left for the boys has me wondering how I’m going to entertain them all summer. We’ve managed to have fun summers in the past, so I know it will be eventful this summer as well. We’ll fit in swimming and picnics in the park as usual, we’ve already got camping trips planned and booked throughout the summer in our RV and we’ll plan some exploratory hikes or day trips out to places we’ve yet to discover here in CO, or maybe learned about last year but never had time to visit. Summertime truly is my favorite time of the year. I’m a warm weather girl and love to be outside despite my allergies.
Since we took the above picture with the RV, our grass has turned green! It looks so much better!
At the end of this week, we will be taking the RV out for the first of a few summer excursions. I cannot tell you how happy I am to be doing our camping in an RV instead of a tent! Our very last tent camping experience was a nightmare. A storm had rolled through and the tent was leaking water all over our sleeping bags. Not only that, my husband’s back isn’t what it used to be. Setting up a tent can really be hard on one’s back, not to mention exhausting. Tent camping takes all the relaxation of out it. So I guess you can call us glampers because we like all the amenities of home, but as close to nature as possible. I think the RV was a great family investment and will really make our camping experiences that much more enjoyable. We took the RV out for a test camping experience in March before de-winterized it, and we are already feeling blessed to not have to set up a tent even though we didn’t have a toilet to use or running water yet. Even with the lack of those amenities, we could sleep in actual beds, and had the insulation of four walls, electricity for lights and heat, which made it pretty awesome if you ask me. This time when we take it out, we’ll actually have running water and we’ll be able to use the toilet and shower if we need to.
We are pulling the kids out of school early on Friday and taking them to Jackson Lake east of Greeley and spending three days there away lakeside enjoying some of the more simple things in life. I’m sure there will be a blog post to highlight our adventure.
What are your summer plans?
Are you dreading the summer months, or looking forward to them?
