I don’t think that when the clock stroke midnight on January 1st in 2012 that we had any idea what the year had in store for us. It wasn’t until March that Hunky Hubs and I started getting antsy about buying a home and leaving the townhouse. I think we were seeing how hard it was to get J outdoors and be active, when I had a house full of kids I was watching and couldn’t take them to the park, I knew then that we needed more space. Still at the stroke of midnight that January first I had no idea that in May we would buy our first house. It was a distant dream, it was still a “someday” passing thought. In January 2012 we rung in the new year when the ball dropped in New York and I was holding a tiny newborn.
3 months later we would be on a search for the perfect house to raise our family in. Hunky Hubs had a list of wants and needs, and I had a list, and outside of one house falling thru to foreclosure right when we put our offer in the Ponderosa Trails neighborhood, we then were on a search for another house. Not much was invested in the previous, but in the end, I think we all got what we wanted. I an office, and the Hubs a man cave, a beautiful dining room for celebrations to come, a big grass backyard for the kids and the boys even have a playroom. It was an odd little house from the street, but perfect inside…outside of the unusual floor plan that I’m still trying to get used to with two little ones running around.
The end of May, beginning of June was a hard month. Boxing up our lives and moving it to another house and then the home renovations that came with it, left us all tired, worn out and sick. I got the flu, then I got a virus that spread to my sight and threatened vision in my right eye. Things had taken a turn for the worse and my attitude was not one of gratefulness, it was one that simply longed for things to be put away, I wanted to put the paint brush down and take a nap most days. But stuff needed to be done.
In August we finally got the house in order to have a house-warming party even though the things we want to do to the house still span out til Next Summer…and possibly even til the summer of 2014. This house is great, but we’ve got so many ideas to make it greater, that we have projects lined up for when the snow melts and the warm sun makes an appearance again in the spring.
In October I joined a mom group where we get together with our little ones at each other’s houses. Its been a great way for me to network and get to know other moms like me and its also been great for J who doesn’t get a lot of contact with other kids these days since I stopped doing Home Day Care.
In November Baby B turned One! Just like that my newborn was a baby and then a toddler and the year just got away from me. I worried I didn’t take enough pictures but on B’s birthday video collage it was the longest video, even out of the first three ones I made J myster.
We hosted the first Family Thanksgiving and Christmas party this year and it was probably the best holiday season yet and we even had snow on the ground for Christmas and it snowed all day on Christmas eve, it was kinda like the movies where it’s always snowing on Christmas? Except I think they say the likely hood of that happening in this town is 20 percent. The kids got tons of toys and it was a wonderful day being with my family.
Then on New Year’s Eve 2012, that tiny newborn had morphed into a walking babbling toddler. Ringing in 2013 was similar to 2012 except this time I could have a drink or two. Instead of staying up til 10 pm, we made it til Midnight, Hunky Hubs and I kissed and since the boys were passed out on the couch and floor I went over to kiss them. Then we slept in the living room while the fire roared all night and woke up to a very very cold New Year’s Day.
Now its time to make new year resolutions or goals and make them obtainable and start a new…I can’t wait for spring!
That’s my year in review! If you wrote a post, I’d love to read yours!
