Vacation Day 4, A Day at the Beach….

I was going to blog about our trip to the San Diego Zoo, but I forgot that we had a day in between. We needed a low-key day, especially with a toddler where we weren’t running from exhibit to exhibit or ride to ride. So we spend day four touring the USS Midway and spent the last half of the day at the beach.

I am amazed at the Seamen who spent time on the USS Midway, or any navy ship for that matter. It was quite interesting and humbling to see how they lived. Most of the men, unless you were a caption or Sergent, lived in very tight quarters with little to no privacy.  And on this Labor Day I am grateful that these men served on this ship and fought for my right to complain about politics and the recession. We really do live in one of the greatest countries in the world despite its problems.

So after we toured the midway, we headed back to the hotel and grabbed our gear and made it out to Mission beach. It was a perfect last half of the day. All we did was munch on snacks, play in the surf, collect sea shells and build sand castles until the sun went down.
