When You Are On a Roll, and Life Knocks Your Down

…Get back up. Of course, give yourself time to rest and heal. But seriously it happens every time I’m on a roll. Every time I got things figured out, its like “wham!!” No, you don’t!

The truth is… this is life.

This is living…

The good, the bad, the ugly…it’s all apart of this beautiful, blessed yet often ugly thing we call life.

We can’t escape it, only through death can you escape it, so have some humor in the bad times, persevere through difficult times, pray through sad times and keep on keeping on.

You will never get to that stage of life where everything is perfect, it’s just not realistic. If it happens, it happens in fleeting moments, so enjoy them as you encounter them, take note, make memories and cherish it.

I was hit with a cold right before the Super Bowl. Most of the time, a cold is a cold and it’s a week of feeling crappy and then you hit your stride again and move on with your life. As a mom, I’ve rarely had time the last eight years to even acknowledge a cold. I usually power through and when I’m hard at work, I forget I’m even plagued with illness.

For me, this time, it was high fevers and more than ten days of just feeling lethargic, like I can’t breathe, and even ear aches from sinus pressure that I rarely have had as an adult.

In the grand scheme of things, this cold is a minor burden to bear. I’ve learned that about life. That you will always have things you are working on or working toward and you’ll have speed bumps and road hazards along the way. Maybe it gives us time to reflect and feel grateful for days of health and sunshine.

I have not gotten to the videos I wanted to record this week on Youtube….hopefully by next week I will have shaken this thing and can return to a regular work routine.

But I wanted to take a moment and thank you for stopping by to read my posts and engage with me on Heartfully Heather and wish you a happy Valentine’s day whether you celebrate it or not.

I also want to say congratulations to Stacie S for winning our subscriber’s giveaway for a $10 Amazon gift card! Happy Valentine’s Day Stacie!

  1. It does stink when everything is going well and bam you get hit with a cold or some other sickness. It’s important to keep life in perspective and know that “this too shall pass” it’s cliche but it’s the truth lol

  2. Ugh I hate being sick! I normally try to power through it, but will rest if it’s too much to bear. Being healthy is something we all wish for, but sometimes life just happens!

  3. Our household was in misery for a few weeks in January with a bad stomach bug that we all came down with. It is hard when just one person is down but things get really bad when everyone is knocked off their feet. Everything is finally getting back to normal now. Glad to hear you are feeling better.

  4. We’ve been passing around some virus here for months. It’s such a pain. I feel like we’ve tried everything and it just keeps coming back. But through it all we haven’t lost our sense of humour and I feel like that is getting us through it.

  5. Ugh! I just got over being sick for a week and a half. It was awful. I’m finally feeling like I’m about to bounce back but not quite. Getting sick sucks!

  6. Life is full of sadness and knockdowns like these, it’s about moving forward. Being sick sucks, get rest to recover and keep goin
