It’s February 25th and after about a month…22 days to be exact of feeling miserable, from an out of control cold that lead to an almost ear infection and fluid built up in my ears that caused pain and discomfort, to being fatigued ALL THE TIME…I now have energy and feel more myself than I have this whole month. My hearing is still not 100% though.
Now I’m on a mission to prevent illnesses from wiping me out like this in the future. I have resumed the daily consumption of vitamins like zinc and Vitamin D3 and I’m also adding in probiotics because I’ll be damned if I allow another illness to take me out for a whole month again anytime soon.
So here’s to feeling better!
On a side note to my readers who are chronic sufferers of pain:
To those of you who suffer from chronic pain and illness, I am so sorry. I have read some comments on my blog or Facebook page from people who suffer from chronic pain and I just can’t imagine how I’d get through each day knowing there was no relief in sight. My 22 days of illness really doesn’t compare to years of not feeling well.
I have a friend who I think of often. He suffers from an inoperable brain tumor that gives him headaches every….single…day. He’s had this for the last 5 years I think. Nothing helps and there is no treatment and people don’t understand. He has three children and a wife and I can’t imagine having to be the one that keeps it all together and bring home the income for his family so they don’t suffer, and he suffers every day. Because he suffers from this pain that will never go away unless medicine and science can change it somehow, he is depressed. I can’t blame the man. I also know people with Fibro and what you guys go through….it’s just horrible. I don’t think anyone should have to live this way and I know that because your symptoms are things that people can’t see, you don’t get the understanding and support you need. So I just want to offer my sympathies and my hope for you for medicine and science and a cure or way to feel better.
In Other News:
I am officially the box tops queen at my kids’ school. I have collected and counted all the box tops for this year, mailed them off and will be administering prizes to students who submit box top sheets over 25. A wonderful person who has connections to Chuck E. Cheese has donated prizes to help create a little competition for box tops collecting. So hopefully our school can earn a little extra dough toward some school supplies and a new printer. They only have 1 that serves the whole school, so when it breaks down a lot of teachers have to wait to get their materials printed. That’s tough!
My motivation is back for making this house more of a home. Obviously, when you are sick you let a lot of things go, your appearance, the house, the dishes, organization….it all just goes out the window. This means I’ll be working this week on trying to finish a project we started in the guest room for a kind of natural branch crown molding look. I’ve been having trouble finding what I’ve envisioned in my head, I can’t find it on Pinterest or Amazon or Hobby Lobby. Basically what I’m looking for a is a tree branch garland time thing that’s about 7 feet long with no color to it, just dead looking bare branches. So we may have to make do with what we got and move on.
Winter is still here. We keep getting snow every three or four days, I guess that’s just Northern Colorado for ya. Spring is nowhere in sight yet, so I guess we’ll continue to cook soups and stews and chilis and try our best to stay warm.
