I tried fooling myself thinking I could wait to tell the world til 12 weeks that we are expecting another baby but I just couldn’t contain the excitement today when I saw our little bean on the ultrasound monitor.
It has been a rough last 5 weeks with morning sickness and lets just say when we got back from our Laughlin trip I just knew then I was pregnant, it was kind of an intuition. So I found out pretty early and well before my missed period that I was expecting. It was a complete and total shocker since I just had my IUD surgically removed the month before because it got stuck!
We weren’t trying but we weren’t preventing, and apparently when you just don’t care either way, God steps in and says “Yep you’re gonna be a mommy again”. Go figure right? I’ve been hesitant to add to the family since I work in child care. I just wasn’t sure I was ready for more sleepless nights. It took us 14 long months to conceive our son, and this time just 1 month after being off birth control. So I guess it really just goes to show you that timing is all up to God.
Anyway I have been dying to share this news and these pics on my blog and with the world. Its kind of been a lonely 5 weeks since I’ve been battling lots of fatigue and morning sickness that leaves me curled up on the couch half the day with a movie on for the kids. Normally I’m very active in play with the kids, but not lately. And lets just say these last five weeks without coffee? Torturous!! I love coffee!!
Anyway, back to the bean. So I am 8 weeks and 3 days according to the ultrasound I had today. I thought I was 8 weeks 2 days, so I’m measuring a day ahead. My initial appointment was supposed to be next week, but due to some spotting, they decided to see me earlier. It turns out that I have a fibriod and some subchorionic bleeding. I read that this bleeding is common in 20 percent of pregnancies. So I’m not too worried since the doctor wasn’t worried, but it’s still a little concerning for me. I just did my own research and learned that it can be irritated with heavy lifting. Well I have to lift a heavy baby and 2 toddlers every day, so I’m a bit scared. Please keep us in your thoughts.
But here is a quick look at our little bean! I was surprised when the doc couldn’t give us the heart rate since we got J’s at 8 weeks and it was 174bpm. The doc said they don’t normally give a heart rate that early at this place, but I did see it beating! J’s us pictures were a lot clearer too and I actually got to see him move a little flipper arm! 🙂 This baby looks like a little blob, but I’m so reassured that baby is measuring right on track and actually 1 day ahead. So this is great news. And I’m glad I can finally share. There was no way I was going to be able to wait til 12 weeks. So 8 weeks and a heartbeat is good enough for me. 🙂
