You know how when you’ve just tried to get a grasp on things in life and you’ve become more organized and things are a little bit cleaner and you’ve mapped out a game plan to get things done and accomplished daily, then something throws a wrench in that plan?
Yeah that something started at 3 am Wednesday morning when I went running to the bathroom with the worst upset stomach I’ve had since college. I was hospitalised in college from food poisoning. Drinking coffee didn’t help me, as it did make the issue worse. Having a sensitive stomach can cause a lot of problems. Actually, with this being said, there are certain beans that I can have, which has to have a low level of acid. I only know this because a friend of mine recommended I looked into a sites like Neptune Coffee after I told them what happened. I mean, I can still drink coffee now, but I have to be careful with that beans are used. To be on the safe side, I might as well make it myself at home. It was horrible. It’s the kind with the cold sweats, the body aches and things coming out from both ends at the exact same time.
Sorry if you were munchin on something.
It was horrid. This lasted for 12 hours. This went on until I really couldn’t imagine I had anything left in my stomach to get rid of at all.
The worst part about the whole thing is being a wife and mom. It’s so not easy when this is happening when your husband has hurt his back to such extremes that he needs to go to Urgent Care, and there isn’t anyone but you to take him.
Imagine in between puking spells trying to get a five-year-old to school, which by the way I showed up in the drop off lane in my pajamas, slippers, and knotted hair. Then to go home, puke some more and have to drive your husband to Urgent Care since he couldn’t stand or walk without excruciating pain. The only thing I could do was bring a large empty cup with me while I drove in case I needed to puke.
ITS NOT FUN!
All this is happening and my two-year-old doesn’t understand why his parents seem to be falling apart and he runs up to his bed after the umpteenth time he’s heard me puke into the toilet and starts crying. I finally get up the strength to go up and see why he’s crying and he says, “I so scared.”
Can you imagine being two years old and seeing your parents in states of illness or injuring when you’ve never seen them anything but strong and happy most of the time? I’m sure its scary.
These are moments where I wish the kids could just go over to a relatives house for a while so mom and dad can get well, but we just don’t have that.
I got him calmed down and cautiously snuggled with him, hoping I wouldn’t get him sick. Scott thankfully got a ride home from Urgent Care with his buddy Chris and as soon as we laid down together, I got a call from JJ’s school nurse saying he was ill, it had been about an hour since I last met the toilet. I went to pick him up and the poor guy had to hold a puke bag all the way back home as well.
So we set up a quarantine zone where JJ and I were in the sick family room and Scott and Braidy were in the living room and I was there for JJ to hand him bucket after bucket to puke in. The poor guy was so miserable and we decided to camp out on the couch together overnight so I could ward off any puke ridden sheets and blankets.
I woke up this morning and JJ and I are both feeling better, but now my husband has the stomach bug on top of his debilitating back issue. I feel really bad for him. As if he didn’t have enough that was going on already with him.
Have you ever been in a situation like this where you were so ill, but someone else needed your help and you just had to suck it up and deliver? I feel your pain, it’s hard being a mom and wife on top of being sick. I guess those titles don’t disappear when you are ill…
